The extraordinary tiled façade of this

wonderful historic shop conceals an

Aladdin’s cave of ceramics from all over Spain.  This is not the mass-produced stuff aimed at tourists but comes from the small family potters of Andalucía and Toledo, ranging from the decorative platters to the useful plates and mugs.  It was a privilege to  have a private tour of the store from its’ owner José this afternoon.

A sweet shop that needs to be seen to be believed, Caramelos Paco has been indulging children and adults alike since 1934 and it remains unrivalled when it comes to variety. There’s almost nothing you can’t find here, the shop window is a work of art AND it's right around the corner from my piso:)

The audio tour of the Plaza de Toros en Madrid is fantastic! Put it on your list if you're coming to Madrid. Thought you would enjoy a few pics from the latest corrida!!

My friend José Manuel is a full-time bombero (firefighter) but in his free time he has a passion for beekeeping. Jack and Dean got a chance to get up close and personal con las abejas hoy!

Had lunch with my friend Agustin today and was reminded how fun meals can be. Time to bring the bota bag back to Boston!

Hey All! WOW how time does fly when you're having fun. Sorry to have been a little out of touch this first week, but it's been full of lots of guests already My sister, husband and son have all been with me while I get started on this adventure. We've been out and about for long full days despite a little rain and cooler winter weather...nothing like the snow I hear Boston is getting. Will spend some time tonight organizing all the pictures thus far, and will start to catch you all up mañana, bien :)
